Breakthroughs Come From Hyperfocus On A Problem

Breakthroughs come from hyperfocus on a problem. Fixating all of our attention in precisely the obstacle that is in our way (or the thing that we desire to achieve) with all of our available attention, energy, and will.

A mistake that people often make is casual attention on persistent problems, as well as underestimating issues that we face. As a result, we give them the minimum of attention which — even if done with consistency — is not always enough to overcome them.

I know this well from certain things that I have been trying to learn and achieve for years, without success, because I never applied myself fully, seriously, to the task.

As a result I realized that breakthroughs come from hyperfocus on a problem. Experience tells me that there is little beyond the reach of any one of us, if we can learn to devote the totality of ourselves to a task.

There Are Certain Obstacles That Require More

Some of the challenges and obstacles we face are genuinely herculean — even if we don’t realize it immediately.

Along the path, there is a limitation to our foresight, experience, and estimation. We might never have reached the next stage, so we really do not know what it takes to get there.

Many of the obstacles that we face are like this. Many are like icebergs, with the majority of their bulk hidden beneath the surface. We wouldn’t know either, because we have never been here before. We go about the obstacle like we would any other, yet it persists for weeks, months, and sometimes years.

We cannot treat these obstacles like we would any other, because they are not like the others that we have faced.

They are more. They test our true limits, and thus require something exceptional from us.

Along the path that we have chosen, we have to be willing to give more of ourselves than ever before to realize our ambitions. There are many stages along the path that bottleneck, with a single obstacle (or nexus of obstacles) obstructing our path, which there is no way around.

In these situations, we have to dig deep. There is no way around. There is no alternative route. There are no clever schemes. It is just you and the boulder on your shoulders. You can lift it, and move through it, or turn around.

Be Afraid To Give Everything

Human beings have limiters on their minds. We like to think that we are free, free to think and act and be whatever we desire. But true freedom comes at a price. A price that most are not willing to pay, because it costs something from us.

You might have to sacrifice, let other things go, or abandon pursuits that done hold the same level of value and importance to you. You might have to sacrifice time, your presence from some important moments in the childhood of your children, in order to achieve the dream (which is for their future too).

You will have to push yourselves in ways you have never done before, learning new things, new approaches, new knowledge and skills which push you to the breaking point.

This is simply what is required.

Breakthroughs come from hyperfocus on a problem. The problems that we face on the path are the keys to our success. A solution that resolves a problem opens a doorway that we can move through.

Beyond that doorway is more pathway that leads to our highest potential.

Do not be afraid to seize it, no matter what the cost.
