Linguistic Connections

Genetic Conenctions

A recent genetic study found that the Indo-European people are bonded by more than just language. They share a genetic modification that allows them to drink the milk of non-humans (such as goats, cows, etc.) — a remnant of the long pastoral tradition practiced by Indo-European peoples through prehistory, ancient history, medieval history, and even into modern times. [1] Indeed, our raising of cows specifically is a remnant of our Indo-European ancestors through most of Europe and the Near East.

Not only is this a reflection of the pastoralist tradition, but is also mirror in Celtic, Germanic, Vedic, Nordic, and Greek Religion and mythology, as evidence by the respect and honour given to cows in these disparate — though fundamentally connected — cultures.
