Danu (Hindu Goddess)

Danu is a Hindu primordial goddess. She is mentioned in the Rigveda, where she is said to be the mother of the race of gods called the danavas.

The word Danu described primeval waters out of which creation emerged. It is possible that the goddess Danu herself, in some way, embodied these waters. [1]

In later Hinduism Danu was described as the daughter of Prajapati Daksha, and his spouse Panchajani, and the consort of the sage Kashyapa. [1]
