Electric Charges and Fields

When studying Newton’s Laws, several physical phenomena classified as forces. We classified these physical phenomena as forces because of the effect that they had on physical objects, in that they caused them to accelerate.

When studying impulse and momentum, we expanded the idea to mean anything that changes the momentum of an object. [1]

In either case, a force is recognized by its influence on another object. Like the source of gravity, which exerts a gravitational force by bending space and time.
