How To Find Your Purpose In Life
Your purpose in life is a direct extension and expression of who you are. Ultimately it is simple because it is completely organic and natural to you, and a path you are so inspired and fulfilled by, passionate about, that walking the road is overall an effortless joy. Move inwards to realize your true nature, and your purpose will unfold naturally. For every individual, our purpose in life is the purest and highest expression of our true nature.
Resolving Internal Conflict
To find your purpose in life, all conflict in your inner world must be resolved. Not all at once, since this a lifelong process, but gradually over time. Internal conflict is literally an inner resistance not just to your purpose, it is more serious than that. It is a resistance to who you are. That is literally what internal conflict is: an internal division, a split within yourself where these two (or more) factions within are in opposition to one another fundamentally, because by their very nature they are in dichotomy and not coherent with one another.

As you turn your attention inwards, your purpose in life will unfold naturally in time with consistent internally directed attention. One must journey to the very core of their being and experience their true nature. With regular visits to these inner depths, we begin to be colored by the thoughts and emotions we find, which gradually changes us. We are changed by an experience of our true self so that we may live in a way that is an authentic expression of who they are, which is what living with purpose ultimately means.
To resolve internal conflict and live from your authentic nature is how to discover your life purpose because all internal conflict is merely a manifestation of your resistance to and ignorance of your purpose in life. Thus discovering your purpose in life is not so much something you achieve, it is a place within yourself that you can choose to live life from. A place of greater authenticity and truth.
I suggest that you tune into that internal conflict a little more closely to see what it’s all about. Examine your current life circumstances and discover the lessons your life is teaching you because that will reflect your purpose. Internal conflict tells the individual that something is wrong, something is misaligned or missing. Just like the mechanism of pain in our bodies acts as a reminder that our body needs our attention. The greater the pain, the more urgent the required attention. Inner turmoil is the spirits way of letting us know that our attention is sorely needed within. We can only ignore it for so long until eventually a choice is made for us.
This is the universe calling out to you, encouraging you to remember your infinite nature and realize your magnificent potential. It is your personal invitation to a higher plane of being and a better life. Inner turmoil is telling you something is wrong. All you need to do is look within and you will find all that you have been searching for, and your purpose in life will reveal itself to you naturally the deeper you go as you begin to understand who and what you are, along with why you are here.
Your Purpose In Life Is Found In Silence
Once you have understood that your purpose is an extension of who you are, the truth of who you are, then you know where to look for purpose: within. What are you passionately excited about? What are you moved by, what cuts deep right to your core, pulling your heart strings? What are the things you do which you cannot live without? I feel that this is going to be the most challenging step for most people because the thinking behind the concept is against logic (only in the sense that it is contrary to so many of the fundamental ideas that govern our society). People’s first thought might be that they need to do more, try harder, or search the world to find their purpose in life because they are driven by a deeper belief that they are not enough, that they are lacking, that the majority of who they are was learned from the outside, hence their need to become something they are not in order to realize their purpose. Instead, within us is contained all we could ever need, our entire identity that doesn’t need to be shaped as much as discovered and revealed.
The accumulation mindset is oftentimes the very thinking that led us into losing our sense of purpose in the first place. We didn’t just move away from purpose, we moved away from ourselves and from god too. Your life purpose is not something foreign to you, because it is an extension of your deepest nature. It will be found once you remove the ideas, habits, and elements of your false self-image that are in contradiction to who you really are. You don’t even have to remove them! They will dissipate on their own as you identify positively with the truth of who you are away from the illusion of yourself.
Practice meditation to learn how to observe your thoughts rather than engage unconsciously in them. Don’t follow your thoughts, because your thoughts will only lead you along pathways you have already gone down before. Even the ones that appear to be new, do not be fooled. They might very well be, however to follow them is to once again move away from yourself, however bright, powerful, alluring and hopeful they might be.
Identify with the silent observing presence within yourself, and wait for that thing which resonates with you so powerfully that you absolutely must act upon that desire. Regardless of whether the desire emerges from within you, appears spontaneously in your life, perhaps in the form of a book or article suggested to you by a friend, or from a meditative, objective, detached observation of the possibilities of a life path and purpose that you can think of, or from everyone you come into contact with (current or ancient) as you move through society.
Everything Is On Purpose
“God does not play dice with the universe.” – Albert Einstein
If we are to believe in the spirit of Einstein’s famous statement, nothing in this universe is by accident. I personally do not hold with interpretations of the Uncertainty Principle of Quantum Mechanics which support randomness as fundamental to the nature of the universe. I believe such ideas are based on the fact that we need to use probability mathematics to describe the quantum realm only because we do not have a way of measuring subatomic events without interfering with them. Thus some of the ideas such as an electron cloud might not be a representation of the actual nature of the universe, but a picture that emerges because of our necessary employment of probability.
I believe that the universe from the dawn of creation moved directly and intentionally towards the emergence of complex life forms and more articulate and potent forms of consciousness. Thus I assume intentionality and purpose inherent in the universe, rather than a cosmic fluke which has lead to our existence. From this perspective the same intentionality exists at all scales, ultimately passed down to humans, meaning everything that happens in our individual lives, in society, and even the events of the history of our species were all on purpose. This is my belief, and many synchronistic experience throughout my life have confirmed this for me anecdotally, which others may dismiss as coincidence.
At the end of the day, I do not believe that I am an accidental product of randomness. I know that I was born here for a reason, which then must also be true for all other people. If you are not by accident, then you are an intentional extension of the universe intended here for a specific purpose, a destiny, if you will. From this perspective everything that has happened to you in your life has happened for a reason, leading to where and who you are now, and there is a lesson in every obstacle. This is a far superior mentality to take compared to victimizing ourselves as poor, piteous, primates at the whim of random chance and forces we have no control over. Instead I know that I am a master of creation, and can create my life as I see fit. I choose to believe that we are here for something more, that we are powerful and capable, with unique substance, quality, perspective and voice to offer the world.
You are exactly where you need to be right now. You are exactly the person you need to be, and everything that has happened happened for a reason and couldn’t have happened in any other way, because it didn’t. Thus you do not need to feel guilty or ashamed of who you used to be, or things that happened to you. That was all in the past, when you didn’t know as much as you know now, and you will realize the lesson and the perfect order to everything in your life if you continue to move forward, always growing towards your authentic nature.
Finding Your Purpose In Life Using Emotions As A Guide
All conflict in our lives and in the world arises when we interfere with the natural expression of our true, divine nature. Thus all conflict in the world is the result of our ignorance of the divine, our genuine self, and our connection to all things in the universe which is the only reason why we can behave in such deviant, digressive, aberrant ways. Not hate, not greed, not fear, simply, ignorance, from which hate, greed, anger, and fear arise. When you break through to an experience of pure consciousness in meditation, the result is feelings of love, bliss, joy, and a sense of abundance and perfection. These emotions fundamentally define the nature of the Universe. Thus when we are aligned with them in thought, feeling, and action, we realize ourselves to be powerful, loving, blissful, transformative, kind, and eternal creatures, living in a universe of abundance. When a person is possessed by their purpose in life, they are animated and inspired by such emotions. Try and see yourself in this light and you will be that much closer to you true nature and purpose in life,

In order to find your purpose in life you must discover who you are. This journey is ultimately an internal journey. In the end you might not even be required to leave your home, your city, or perhaps even your room, because the realm of exploration is the infinite potential and space that exists within you in consciousness. You do not need to travel to India or Africa to do this, even while this may be a part of your greater, ever-unfolding life process. You need only look within and contemplate your connection to the universal spirit, in silence.
Emotion seems to me to be the perfect language, because it is the one language in which there is no deceit, because deceit in emotion is not possible. We can use our minds to deceive ourselves by rationalizing away our feelings, projecting them, or outright denying them. However if we are honest, feelings do not lie. They cannot lie. For this reason they are our best gauge for moving through life, moving upon both the spiritual path and the path of personal development. Use them to your advantage in assessing whether or not you are internally congruent, aligned with your true nature, with your higher self, and with spirit.
Inner conflict guides us to our purpose in life. At least the inner conflict signifies that something is wrong, while precisely how we are conflicted gives us a clear picture of exactly what we are conflicted about. While I spoke above about how inner conflict is literally what must be resolved for us to know ourselves and to know our purpose, inner conflict is not a curse. It is a blessing. It is a compass on our path back to our true nature, and back to our purpose in life. It is simple to use:
If there is inner conflict, then we are off purpose. Whereas if we feel peaceful, enthusiastic, inspired, loving, passionate, and limitless we are in alignment with our purpose, acting on it or on the path towards it. Use these types of feelings as a gauge for if you are on the right path.
“There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way” as the late, great Wayne Dyer used to say. The same principle applies here. We cannot expect to attain fulfillment, inspiration, passion, and piece once we arrive at the destination. We need to feel these emotions as we walk the path, which grow with time certainly, but which emotionally resonated resoundingly within us from the very beginning. That is how we recognize purpose. If we are not feeling peace, passion, or inspiration on the path we are on, we must be courageous enough to seek a different path. Or perhaps a different way to walk along the path we have chosen.
It is for this reason that it is treacherous to try and think our way to purpose. Because it is some of the ideas that we hold about who we are and what we believe we should be doing that are responsible for losing our sense of purpose in the first place, because we were moving away from ourselves. To return, meditate so that we may learn to live from the silent knowing of the observer within ourselves. Accompany this by using our intuition to guide our actions, and our emotions to verify that we are on purpose.
Each and every one of us inherently knows our mission on this planet. We know it from birth, not because it was implanted in us, but because it has always existed within us encoded in consciousness. Perhaps we have gone through phases of disconnection from spirit and purpose in this lifetime so that we may learn important lessons.
As you clear away all the blockages within yourself you will see yourself clearly. Suspend judgement – support or denial – for any thought that comes through your mind. For any desire. Take notice of it, then release it in gratitude as you choose instead to identify with the never-changing silent observer with, since you recognize that it is from this part of yourself, the core of your being, that your true nature and purpose in life flow. When you come closer to this point, you will feel inner peace, divine love, and pure bliss because those are the energies of the universe. When you feel those emotions within yourself, know that your purpose in life will reveal itself to you clearly as a natural unfolding and expression of those emotions within you.
