Indus-Valley Civilization — Urban Planning

The Urban Planning of the Indus-Valley Civilization was among the highest of the ancient world, specifically on the border between Prehistory and Ancient History. Indeed, it is one of the most striking features of IVC sites that speak to the advanced level of this ancient civilization.

The IVC is known for its well-planned sites like Harappa and Mohenjodaro. These sites feature grid-patterned streets — early evidence of modern city-planning designs. Housing was well-organized, and the drainage system was especially elaborate.
