Keep It Simple

Keep It Simple. Life is complicated, but keep it simple. Learning is hard, but keep it simple. Creating is torturous, but yet again, keep it simple. Goals are hard — keep it simple.

Doing most things is pretty complicated once you consider all of the variables involved. But we only overcomplicate the process by trying to consider all the variables at once, and all of the things we have to do — especially at the beginning — because it is overwhelming.

It was always going to be overwhelming, like trying to consider all of the stars in the night sky at once. It is necessary to Plan to a degree. But most of the time the tasks are relatively simple, and the path of actually moving through the plan (and moving through all the variables and things to do) is done through action.

Tasking The Plan, Completing Tasks, Completing Projects. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, day-in and day-out.

Every Day Take A Step

Every day take a step. Focus on taking definite steps every day, or working on them intentionally, and you will see progress accumulate over time.

Focus on Finish Projects (and identifying a progression of good ones beforehand) and you will feel that momentum build clearly.

Do The Thing A Thousand Times

Repetition is a powerful force. If you repeat something enough times, it becomes unconscious. Even something that was complicated at the beginning. I have discovered in a thousands ways how focused effort and sheer repetition allow us to intuitively learn complicated things.

Complex processes can become routine, bodies of knowledge can be crystallized into a consciously accessible framework, and skills can be learned relatively quickly with focused effort and repetition.

If you are good at thinking, it is easy to overcomplicate a thing. However, at the same time, we have to battle to some degree against our inclination to overthink in order to Get Things Done. More importantly, if we overthink the path as we are walking, it is easy to halt forward momentum — in favour of labelling everything along the way.
