The Ancient Civilization Recorded In Ancient Religion
It seems that in every Ancient Religion, a specific, illustrious clan of people is being described in one voice. All of the ancient religions speak of an advanced tribe with supernatural abilities, who played a role in the shaping of the world.
They are viewed as gods by most of the ancient religions, though in the younger Hebrew Tradition, there is only one god, and they are described as Elohim — supernatural, divine, angelic messengers of the one true god.
Even though their exact names differ from one culture to the next, their description remains largely the same. They:
- performed extraordinary deeds.
- possessed advanced technology and arts.
- are divine, associated with the heavens.
- played a role in the shaping of the world.
- often ruled before the Great Flood, in Antediluvian times.
- are entwined with the Flood Myth.
- go by similar names.
The Names of the Ancient Civilization
- Anuna, Anunnaki, and Igigi —
- Asuras and Devas — The Asuras and Devas are essentially the gods, goddesses, and demons of Vedic Religion and Hinduism.
- Aesir, Vanir, and Jotunn —
Even all their names are vaguely similar. From a perspective untrained in philology, sure. Yet I know enough to know the relationship between Norse, Vedic, and Iranian Indo-European languages, and can see the clear similarity.
The Ancient Civilization, The Lost Civilization
I believe that they were a people of some sort, who can be traced historically, and perhaps, archaeologically as well. A people recorded in the myths, legends, and traditions of the ancient religion that are deeply entwined. Recorded so deep, that they might be one of the most ancient stories of humanity.

This recurrent description of a people in all of the great ancient religions, and many other ancient traditions as well, appears to describe an ancient people. An ancient civilization, who is at present a lost civilization in that they are either undiscovered, or unidentified, whose precise story remains unclear.
This is the theoretical Lost Civilization. A people of uncertain origin and antiquity, who accomplished great deeds at some point in prehistory. So great that all of the great ancient civilizations (at least those West of the Himalayas for sure) trace the origins of the civilizations and cultures, and even their ancestry in some cases. This is recorded in both myth, and in history.
