Setting Goals
Setting Goals is how we establish importance in our minds. It is the act of impressing upon ourselves our priorities, choosing to consciously realize what’s most valuable to us, while at the same time affirming our dedication to progress, growth, and development in these specific areas with daily action.

What we choose to focus our minds upon, grows. But if we don’t consciously choose our focus, another force will — probably life itself, with people and circumstances her agents. So we need to clearly define in our minds our most valuable dreams and goals so that we can aim at them, adjusting our trajectory in their direction by creating daily habits to build ourselves into what we choose to become.
The practice of goal–setting is an act of clarifying our intentions, and our vision for the future. By knowing what we desire to create, we can act in accordance with that ideal, and take gradual steps over time to make our vision a reality.
The Process of Setting Goals
The process of setting goals is simple. You take a long look at yourself, spending time considering who you are. Analyze your nature, along with your passions, dreams, desires and fundamental inclinations, and weigh this against the nearly unlimited possibilities available to you for your future.
Write everything that comes to mind down, and refer regularly to this list. From it, identify the most-important parts of yourself. The deep vision of the main things that you want to become and achieve with this lifetime.
Begin acting towards them now. Figure out something you can do today to make progress, and do it. As you proceed along the path, take the time to create a sophisticated plan, a road-map to the realization of your goal. Think about it exhaustively. Do research on how it can be specifically accomplished. Identify the specific steps towards the achievement of your goal, exactly what you have to do to make it a reality. The things you have to do, learn, and become. Then, build a daily habit around the plans for each individual goal. In the end, this whole process takes place all at once. It is not exactly linear, because we must adjust our plans, habits, everything about how we are working to achieve our vision as we go, the more than we learn.

Setting goals begins the process of aligning our mind, heart, and will together, channeling them into action, creating internal alignment for the purpose of the completion of a task. Over time the practice of goal–setting teaches us to achieve internal alignment. Learn to focus on one goal at a time, maintaining alignment to the goal with a strange combination of self-discipline, intuition, and responsiveness.
The process of setting goals is founded on an understanding of the values and paths most important to us. Goals are the arrangement of targets ahead of ourselves, along the paths we are inspired to follow, with liberation in mind. Goals towards what we most powerfully desire, and what has real meaning to us — irrespective of the reason.
Dial Into Your Commitments
Life is hectic, and there seems to always be more to deal with. A constant barrage of stimulus, unlimited possibilities and the fulfillment of desire arranged in the ranks, aligned against our responsibilities, and our intentions. At a certain point, the only way we can effectively deal with the influence of everything (both positive and negative) is to be dialed in to our commitments. To know what is most important to us, what we are working towards, why we are working, and form who, so that we can live our convictions with purpose.
Our paths will wander. But at a certain point, if we seek deeply enough, what is important to us will become clear. We all eventually see that if we want to achieve something, if we want to succeed, make progress, realize our dreams, we need to invest our time and energy on a daily basis in a focused, intentional way. The goal is the target along the path. Nothing more. A tool to gauge our progress. It is not the path itself, but markers that we have placed to clearly identify the next step, and ensure we are moving in the right direction.
Setting goals is the act of setting your internal sights. Aiming your mind, heart, will, and actions at a target. A training of the process of turning our desires into reality. If we master the process, we can efficiently turn any desire into reality in a powerful way, enabling us to grow and make progress in any way we desire. A tool of true freedom. Fundamentally it is a practice of focusing the mind, but also focusing our emotions and our will into the vision itself and into action. With this skill, we can cultivate Inner Power — and discover wells we never new existed within us — arising from the mental will, focus, fortitude, and consistency required to change reality, by turning any vision into reality.
