Learning Japanese — The Identity Island
The following Japanese paragraphs are based around personal introductions — explaining in detail who you are, your skills, hopes, dreams, ambitions, desires and personal history — which I am calling the Japanese Identity Island.
(The idea being that it is very useful to break up a language you are learning into “islands” — such as Identity, Navigation, Food, Politics — and so on. Once you gain proficiency in one island, not only do you learn an enormous amount, but you gain incredible skill in expressing yourself in that realm.)

こんにちは。私の名前はブランドン・ウェストです。はじめまして。
私は過去15年間、多様なトレーニングと教育に従事してきました。本質的に、私は15年間、物理学、数学、コンピュータサイエンス、天文学、天体物理学、量子力学、そして相対性理論を研究してきました。しかし、私にはまだやるべき仕事がたくさんあります。
